Immigration Evaluations

Anchor Thrive Consulting: Your Partner in Business Growth

Navigating the U.S. immigration process can be an overwhelming and emotionally taxing experience. At Anchor & Thrive, we understand the courage it takes to share your story and the immense pressure you and your family are facing. We are here to provide a safe, supportive, and stable "anchor" during this uncertain time.

Our practice specializes in conducting professional psychological evaluations for immigration cases. These comprehensive assessments provide critical, objective documentation of your mental and emotional health, adding a powerful human element to your legal case. We work in close collaboration with you and your attorney to create a detailed report that accurately and compassionately details your experiences.

What is a Psychological Immigration Evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is a specialized assessment conducted by a licensed mental health professional. Its purpose is to document the psychological impact of past trauma, hardship, or difficult life circumstances. This evaluation provides essential evidence for your immigration case, helping to illustrate aspects of your experience that legal documents alone cannot convey. The final report can be a crucial component in strengthening your case.

We provide evaluations for a variety of immigration proceedings, including:

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers (I-601 & I-601A): Assessing the unique and extreme hardship that a U.S. citizen or permanent resident family member would face if you were not permitted to remain in the country.
  • Asylum Cases: Documenting the psychological effects of past persecution or the credible fear of future persecution (e.g., PTSD, anxiety, depression) in your country of origin.
  • VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) Petitions: Providing evidence of the emotional and psychological abuse suffered by a spouse, parent, or child of a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • U-Visas: For individuals who have been victims of serious crimes in the United States, this evaluation documents the substantial mental and emotional harm resulting from the criminal activity.
  • T-Visas: Assessing the severe trauma and psychological distress experienced by victims of human trafficking.

Our Process: What to Expect

We have designed our process to be as clear, respectful, and stress-free as possible.

  1. Initial Consultation (15 minutes, Free): We will have a brief phone call with you and/or your attorney to discuss the specifics of your case, the evaluation process, timelines, and fees. This is a chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
  2. Clinical Interviews: We will schedule 2-3 confidential interview sessions, typically lasting 60-90 minutes each. This is a safe space for you to tell your story in your own words. We use a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach to ensure you feel heard and respected. (Interpreter services can be accommodated).
  3. Report Preparation: After our interviews, we will prepare a comprehensive and detailed report (typically 8-15 pages) that integrates your personal history with the results of psychological assessments. The report is written specifically to address the legal requirements of your unique immigration case.
  4. Collaboration & Delivery: The final report will be sent directly to your attorney. We remain available for consultation with your legal team as needed to ensure the evaluation best supports your case.
